Mono Lisa & Co.

The classics revisited. Interpretations of classical paintings of women. These images from the collective memory are built up out of thick, diagonal lines. Only an image as well known as the Mona Lisa can be treated like this and still be fully recognizable. It’s an exploration of how far you can stretch a familiar image, or how little of such a image we need to still recognize it.

The Mono Lisa was an experiment and the ignition of this series, after that more famous artworks were hand-rendered in the same manner.
